Eggscelent
Eggscelent is a furniture-inspired sensory toy designed for Magis’ Me Too collection, which focuses on design for children that is both emotionally enriching and ergonomically conscious. The project responds to the growing demand for objects that encourage slow, intentional interaction in a world increasingly dominated by overstimulation and screen-based play.

At its core, Eggscelent is an oval-shaped object, hollow inside, with a subtle internal architecture that guides the movement of small grains. When the toy is gently rotated, these grains pass over internal ridges, producing a soft, rain-like sound. The tactile feedback and auditory response are carefully tuned to promote fine motor skill development, encouraging children to engage through gentle, rhythmic motion. What makes Eggscelent unique is its emotional intelligence. Unlike many noisy, reactive toys, this object rewards calm, smooth movement with a continuous soothing sound. If shaken too harshly or dropped, the sound becomes sharp and abrupt—disrupting the harmony and subtly prompting the child to re-establish a more delicate, conscious approach. In this way, the toy acts as both an educational and emotional tool, helping young users refine their touch, rhythm, and attentiveness.

The project was developed through a user-centered design approach, aligned with Magis’ brand values and production philosophy. Materials and finishes were selected to ensure safety, durability, and tactile richness, while the object’s geometry was optimized for ease of manufacturing and brand-consistent aesthetics. The result is a product that sits at the intersection of play, pedagogy, and design culture—a toy that doesn't just entertain, but educates and soothes through form, function, and interaction. Eggscelent was a finalist in the RoPlasticPrize design competition and represents a deeper reflection on the role of design in early development, emotional self-regulation, and the sensory narratives that shape how children explore the world.
