Seven Shapes
Seven Shapes transforms the iconic Smeg FAB28 refrigerator into a canvas of playful recollection and interactive design. Rooted in the universal experience of children and parents personalizing the fridge - with magnets, drawings, and notes - the project reimagines this household appliance as a living gallery of memories.

The eighties-inspired Tangram puzzle, composed of seven geometric pieces (two large triangles, one medium triangle, two small triangles, a square, and a parallelogram), serves as the central visual language. Its geometry alludes to creativity, spatial reasoning, and universal playfulness. By invoking the act of arranging these shapes, the project draws upon the nostalgic ritual of fridge decoration - an intuitive and emotional link to family, creativity, and shared memories.

Matteo’s design layers the FAB28’s sleek retro curves with bold Tangram lines and shapes. These geometric decals are reminiscent of childhood art, turning the fridge into an ever-evolving canvas. The design invites interaction - a playful gesture that mimics the experience of moving magnets or drawing shapes, physically and mentally engaging users with the appliance.Through this creative lens, Seven Shapes reframes the fridge not just as a storage device, but as a vessel of memory and expression - a tactile, everyday storytelling device in the home.
