Seven Shapes

Seven Shapes transforms the iconic Smeg FAB28 refrigerator into a canvas for play, memory and interaction. Starting from the familiar habit of covering a fridge with magnets, drawings and notes, the project reimagines the appliance as a living gallery of everyday memories.

1. Displayed at the Smeg showroom in Moscova during Milan Design Week 2025, Seven Shapes uses light, colour and geometry to evoke curiosity and memory.

The graphic language draws on the Tangram, a puzzle composed of seven geometric pieces: two large triangles, one medium triangle, two small triangles, a square and a parallelogram. Its simple geometry evokes creativity, spatial reasoning and universal play. By recalling the act of arranging shapes, the project connects the refrigerator with the familiar ritual of decorating it, creating an intuitive link to family life, imagination and shared memories.

2. Seven Shapes reimagines the Smeg FAB28 as an evolving canvas, turning a household icon into a gallery of creativity and recollection.

The design overlays the FAB28's retro curves with bold Tangram lines and shapes. The graphic system recalls childhood drawings and suggests continuous rearrangement, much like moving magnets across a fridge door. Through this lens, Seven Shapes reframes the appliance as more than a storage device: it becomes a tactile surface for memory, expression and everyday storytelling.
